The Talking Shirt was founded in 2013 after a very unsuccessful trip to the local big box store.  We saw the need for tees with positive, uplifting messages.  As our customer base rapidly grows, we have learned that we aren’t the only ones out there that crave appropriate apparel for our little ones and for ourselves.

The Talking Shirt is a USA based company.  We are family owned and operated with a small staff that helps with large orders.  Brandon is “Mr. Talking Shirt” and the head designer.  His “real job” is the pastor of Mokena Baptist Church, located just up the road from our shop.  Rachel is “Mrs. Talking Shirt” and the person in charge of day to day operations.  Our inspiration comes from our two beautiful little girls, Chloe and Avery.  They are truly the lights of our lives!

When you shop with us, you are truly “shopping small”.  All of our tees are designed by us and printed by us in the US.  We are based in Mokena IL.  Our production area is located in the back of our beautiful boutique located at 19805 S LaGrange Road in Mokena, Illinois.

We give God the glory for how our business has grown.  It has been a roller coaster ride and more work than we could have ever imagined, but we are so very grateful for the opportunity we have to spread love, positivity, faith, and kindness in a unique way.

The Review

I LOVE my shirt! It’s made well, is comfortable, and has a great message (“Faith not Fear”). The packaging was impressive, too. Almost boutiquish; a small thing but it shows that a company cares. I will be ordering more shirts from them! I was given a shirt in exchange for a review and am really tickled with the product! Not just empty words.

The shirts are for kids and adults and this company will work with you to get you exactly what you want. I highly recommend them!

The Review

I was fortunate enough to sample FOUR different seasonal flavors from the Brooklyn Bean Roastery. They were all unique and yum! There were a lot of happy mornings at my house, for sure!

Big Kahuna-Macadamia nut white chocolate flavored. The macadamia nut flavor is definitely the star of this coffee. Very aromatic and smooth from start to finish.

Praline Dream-Vanilla caramel pecan flavored. My daughter’s favorite. She loves caramel and pecans. Both flavors were strong and clear and I love the heavenly aroma that they brought all through the house.

Coco Mocha– Coconut chocolate flavored. The most mild of the four flavors. I am a big chocolate lover and also am digging the coconut accents this coffee provided.

Brooklyn Cheese Cake– Cherry cheesecake flavored. This one was my least favorite just because I am not a huge fan of cherries or cheesecake. HOWEVER, if cherry cheesecake is your thing, then you will LOVE these. The taste is very prominent and showcases the two flavors perfectly.

ONNO organic t-shirts

We’ve worked hard to make what we think is a pretty good t-shirt. All ONNO t-shirts are made from sustainable fibers: bamboo, hemp and organic cotton. ONNO t-shirts are made in work places we feel good about. ONNO purchases carbon offsets to balance the harm we do as we t-shirts from here to there.

Cotton and water. The two usually go hand in hand but organic cotton is usually rain-fed, not irrigated, so it uses a lot less water. Organic cotton, as you probably know, is grown without the use of pesticides and insecticides. How is this done? Farmers use composted manures and cover-crops to replace synthetic fertilizers. Innovative weeding strategies are used instead of herbicides. Beneficial insects and trap-crops are used to control pests. Nature’s frost and water inducement prepare plants for harvest, instead of using toxic defoliants. We like organic cotton. Read more about organic cotton.

Bamboo is a grass, and grows like a weed. In fact, it’s the fastest growing plant on the planet. It can grow up to three feet in a day. It doesn’t need help from pesticides or insecticides, and it usually grows on rain water. Just think of the strength, power and self-sufficiency of this crop. The Donald Trump of crops; the Bill Gates of the jungle. If all this excitement has you feeling faint, don’t worry, bamboo generates more oxygen than trees. We love the stuff. Industrial hemp is also a grass and grows like a weed, because it is one. Like bamboo, it doesn’t need any help to thrive. It has no need for pesticides or insecticides, and it grows on rain water. Like bamboo, it offers superior performance compared to cotton: hemp fibers are more durable, provide better UV protection and wick moisture. (Please note that industrial hemp differs from its illegal cousin, marijuana, in that it contains almost no THC, the substance that gets you high). Until the late 1930s, hemp was widely grown and was America’s fiber of choice. Popular Mechanics, in February 1937, predicted hemp would be the world’s first “Billion Dollar Crop” that would support thousands of jobs and provide a vast array of consumer products from dynamite to plastics. Hemp is technically superior to cotton for fabric, trees for paper, and corn for biofuel. The first draft of our constitution was written on hemp paper, and George Washington grew hemp on his land. The Review

Literally, I can not wash these t-shirts often enough!

As soon as I wash these shirts and put them in the “to be put away clothes pile,” they never make it back into the closet. They are worn, I wash them, and they are worn again. My kids love these!

The sizes are suited for men and women and the shirts come in almost every color imaginable. You have not felt softer shirts EVER. They are so soft and seem to get softer as they are worn. The material is slightly heavier than “normal” t-shirt material which is more than fine with me. Most t-shirts nowadays are thin and get stretched out rather quickly. These shirts are slightly denser, I guess is the best word to describe them, which makes them hang better on the body and keep their shape better. They take slightly longer to dry after being washed because of the slighter thickness.

These are so wonderful. I love that they come from organic materials. When putting anything next to our bodies, it should be as natural and organic as possible. These shirts are the real deal!

My Review

I was given a bag for free to try for an honest review. I want to say that up front because I was concerned I might feel like I would have to choose my words carefully if I wasn’t happy with the product. Well, that was a baseless fear. Turns out I love the Beauty Bursts! I started Weight Watchers about the time I got the bag and I was worried my skin would change as I lost weight. I’m 51 and my elasticity ain’t what it used to be. I actually noticed IMPROVEMENT in my skin, especially above my lip and on my throat! I even gave my sister some to try. I’ve noticed a few comments about taste and texture. The first couple of bites were hard to get used to, as the texture reminds me of a tough brownie. I got over that pretty quickly and looked forward to my afternoon “cheater.” They’re only a few calories so I didn’t bother to enter them in my WW app. Overall, really happy and have re-ordered!

My Review

This collagen product just feels so good and I can already see the impact on my skin! Not crazy like I’ve had a facelift, but the skin over my upper lip is tighter, my eyelids look better, and, best of all, my throat doesn’t look as saggy. I’m 51 and haven’t messed with beauty products too much but I had to have some PR shots done so I tried to prepare a little. I started Weight Watchers, and got this small jar. It goes REALLY far and works nicely with my Clinique moisturizer. I was given a jar for free to review and I’m happy to say it’s effective, a little goes a long way, so the bang for the buck is legitimate!
