“Heather Blanton is blessed with a natural storytelling ability, an ‘old soul’ wisdom, and wide expansive heart. Her characters are vividly drawn, and in the western settings where life can be hard, over quickly, and seemingly without meaning, she reveals Larger Hands holding everyone and everything together.”

Faith from Fiction: Biblical Reflections from Ten Bestselling Christian Authors
Has a character from a fictional story ever touched your heart? Have you ever identified with a hero who was struggling against a great obstacle or heavy burden? Have you ever found yourself weeping over a “make-believe” heartbreak or triumph? Just as Christ touched the world with parables, fiction writers, too, have a chance to share Biblical lessons through inspirational tales. Our characters are real to us. Sometimes, they are real to you, too. In this NEW collection, ten bestselling Christian authors invite you to ponder the meditations of some of their favorite characters and the everlasting principles on which their stories are built…
Contributors to Faith from Fiction are some of the biggest names in Christian fiction! Roseanna M. White, DiAne Gates, Jenn Faulk, L.N. Cronk, Lynnette Bonner, Christy Barritt, Heather Blanton, Melanie Dickerson, and Janice Hanna Thompson!
I really enjoyed this book. I am going to enjoy your blog, also. I just read your entry about Eleanor Dare and Roanoke. I loved it. It shed some new light on that colony that I had not read before. Thank you.
It really warms my heart any time I hear from a reader. Thank you so much for spending your precious time on A Lady in Defiance, Susan! Yes, the Lost Colony is kind of a hobby and now I feel I have my answer. Poor Eleanor. What a life. I hope she found happiness in her later years.
Just finished A Lady in Defiance, and I simply could not put it down. It is filled with example upon example of reflecting the love of Christ into a sin filled world where demons really are at war all around us, and about the struggles we all face trying to be that reflection. Thank you! I hope you have a second book in the works. I will be looking forward to it! I plan to share this one with my adult daughters and my friends.
Cathy, I am always so humbled when I hear comments like yours. It is really gratifying that God allowed me a story I could share with others. You came into my world! I hope and your daughters especially read the foreword about my sister. Anyway, I’d love to have you join me over on my FB reader page. The more the merrier! http://www.facebook.com/#!/heatherfreyblanton And, again, thank you for your kind words!
I Loved A Lady in Defiance! I had tears streaming down my face from the very beginning…I’ve been doing my own battle with God for allowing something into my life that I was hurting over and I’ve been so resentful, just not understanding “Why?
I had even told God that I didn’t like Him very much right now….just like Naomi! As I read that part of the book. I just started crying and telling God,”That’s me, God, that’s me!” And as I read the words “Do you trust me?” over and over again….I have finally felt at peace, I DO trust God, and he’s been there the whole time….so THANK YOU for this book, and for making it so real to our every day lives… 🙂
So looking forward to book two! There IS a book two in the works…right??? You can’t leave us hanging! Does Billy come riding in at sunset to claim Hannah and the baby, after he finds that his father has been up to no good? Of course, Mac and Naomi and Ian and Rebecca marry…but what then? 🙂
Teresa, I was so touched by your comments that I choked up reading them. Letting go of our plans and trading them for God’s should be so easy, but it isn’t, is it? Just like kids, we want what we want when we want it. Man, I have been there a million times, yet, every time God’s plan comes through, it is so much more awesome than anything I could dream up for myself. I prayed for you this morning, Teresa. Whatever is going on in your life, I hope you’ll see God’s plan very soon. And, yes, I’m trying to get the sequel out by Spring. Would you mind going over to Amazon and leaving me a review? Readeers like you make it all worthwhile. If I never sell another book, it has been worth it if it helped you. Come on over to FB and let’s be friends! http://www.facebook.com/heatherfreyblanton
Hi Heather, soooo excited about book 2! Yay! And yes, I left a comment on Amazon, and also sent the friend request! Will be recommending this book to my friends! Thank you for such a sweet response….
Teresa, thanks so much for leaving the review. I’ve thought about you all day! I’m glad you took the time to comment. See you on FB!
I’m only six chapters into your book and already loving it!
Wow, you are so kind! Thank you very much. I hope you fall in love with my characters like I did. Please leave me a review on Amazon and come on over to my facebook page! Anybody who likes historical fiction has got to be a friend of mine! http://www.facebook.com/#!/heatherfreyblanton Thanks you again and God bless ya, sister!
Hi Heather. I left a review on Amazon. I thought your novel was really well written and I did love the characters, particularly Naomi. I worried about Charles at first, but he won me over in the end. Are you working on another novel at the moment?
As an avid reader of Christian Historical Fiction, I quickly dove into A Lady in Defiance (I even used the extra hour given by daylight-savings time to read a little more last night). I just finished it, going straight from the book to my computer to find your website! I really enjoyed it, from start to finish! As a young woman who dreams of writing in this genre someday, I’ve come to pick out some of my favorite aspects of each book I read. What did I enjoy about A Lady in Defiance? I loved the small details that fit perfectly in the time period; I loved the characters and how human they were, with all the strengths, quirks, and flaws that the rest of us have; I loved the persistent change and growth in the characters, another very realistic aspect. These are just to name a few. I really liked your writing style and I hope to see another book come along soon!
Grace, I really appreciate your thoughtful review. Great insight! I wish you well on your journey to be a writer. I LOVE getting lost in my own little world and it sounds like you know what I’m talking about. I strive to portray my characters as flawed b/c that’s real life. And God loves us anyway. Amazing. If you wouldn’t mind, would you please leave me a review over at Amazon? I can’t tell you how much I would appreciate that, too! Come on over and friend me on FB. I’d love to get to know you better! Let’s talk about writing. By the way, I am working on the sequel and, boy, do I have some great plot twists coming! http://www.facebook.com/heatherfreyblanton
I sure will!
I loved the realness of the characters and plot. Please let me know when the next novel be released. Thanks!
Geraldine, that is really kind of you. Thank you for taking the time to read A Lady in Defiance AND leave a comment. I really do appreciate that. My sequel, Hearts in Defiance, is with the editor as we speak. I will let you know when it is coming out. Thank you again, and I hope you come back often!
Hi Heather, I adored a lady in Defiance, but when is the sequel coming out? Your editor has had it for almost two years. I’ve recommended this book to many Christian friends. Enjoy your blog too. I don’t do Facebook, but I have seen your page a few times and it is great. My email is rmuller366@gmail.com. let me know when the sequel is coming won’t you. Also very much enjoyed your time travel novella and left a review on Amazon for both books. Love your writing. Keep going girl! God bless, Rita
Oh, Rita, thank you so much for your lovely, uplifting words. Guess what! My sequel will finally be out in this September! Did you see the cover? Did you read the prologue from the new novel. Here’s the link. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know when the book is out. Thank you so much for your support! https://ladiesindefiance.com/my-novel-blog/
Hello Heather! I love your Romance in the Rockies series and I am very appreciative of you putting your foot down to pick up where the 1st book left off! I thought, “finally I can read what happens right after the proclamation of love!” I am curious, however, if you are planning to write a 3rd book in the series? That was quite a way to end the 2nd book! Thank you again for writing these books! God Bless!
I know what you mean, Kayla! About the “right after” moment, I mean. I’ve always wanted to know what happened with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle! LOL. Thank you so very much for reading and I’m just tickled you enjoyed both books. I am working on Book 3 now and hope to have it out winter of 2016. If you’ll like my blog or my page on facebook, you’ll know what’s happening with me. Thank you again and God bless!
