Welcome to Burning Dress Ranch & Contest

A Distant Heart, book one in my new series, Burning Dress Ranch, released FRIDAY. The title is very deliberate.

Like all of us, my characters can choose to stay grounded in this world, hanging on to hurts and grievances–or they can reach for something better. The ultimate Groom offers perfect love–unselfish, sacrificial, peaceful.

Doesn’t seem like it should be a hard choice, but when imperfect human love has let you down, surrendering to Jesus requires a lot of faith. True Love, though, is formidable. It pursues. It casts out fear.

Can my heroine relent, strip off the old gown, and give her heart to the One who will never leave her or forsake her? If she does, I suspect the right kind of earthly love will come along…

What about you? You still wearing that old gown? I pray A Distant Heart inspires you to set the thing ablaze and step into your true identity: the Bride of Christ!

A Distant Heart (Burning Dress Ranch Book 1)

Miss Sally, the mysterious and secretive owner of Burning Dress, established the ranch with a very particular mission—to make sure her charges leave with a profitable skill, and to share the love of Christ with their hurting, wounded souls.

Cecelia Huggins, broken by a bitter divorce, has come to Burning Dress to take control of her own destiny. She wants to work and learn. She doesn’t want friends, and she certainly doesn’t ever want to fall in love again.

Jax Taylor is foreman of the Burning Dress and he’s the perfect man for the job. Most of the ranch hands are women who are healing from some pretty tough blows. Just like them, he’s pushing past his own hurts and would rather lose an eye than fall in love again.

Miss Sally has had some tough cases before but Cecelia and Jax maybe the toughest. How do you convince two stubborn hearts that the only way to find rest for their souls is to give in to love?

  1. They definitely have history, and I think they were in love with each other. I think they just might still be, too.

  2. There is so much to their story. I have to admit, I am delighting in the torment for readers that I have planned. (evil laugh)

  3. Oh but this sounds like a great series. Im going to guess that Miss Sally and Sam were in love at one time. To this day they are still in love with each other. But will not admit it to the other. What happened years ago is still between them. And because of this Miss Sally had devised a way to help other women to experience Gods peace and help them take steps to a better life.

    • I tell you, Lori, it was hard writing their conversations. There are double-meanings and I was trying not to give anything away too soon and also to leave the reader guessing. So, good guesses on your part. That’s all I have to say about that.

  4. Pauline Wikkerink

I beleive that they were in love at sometime and something tore them apart. I think she was hurt by this and is unsure if she can trust him again. I can not wait to read this and find out.

  5. Rose Milligan

I love the cover, and the story sounds wonderful! Congrats on the book release! Thanks for having the giveaway! Miss Sally and Sam were in love but never together, and they are probably still in love with each other.

  6. Alicia Haney

I think in this story they both loved each other at one time, but he was drinking and he was hiding it from her, well, she found out and she broke up with him because he had lied to her about not drinking anymore, he would always tell her he had quit drinking but he never had stopped drinking. She had really loved him at one time, but he apparently chose his bottle instead of her. Well, he finally cleaned his act and sobered up and he thought a lot about the woman he had lost , so he went searching for her. He finally found her living in a small town, but she could not believe him anymore, He had to show her now with his Actions instead of just by words that he really had changed for the better and that he truly deserved her love.

  7. You put a lot of thought into that, Alicia. Thank you and thank you for reading!

  8. Best wishes with your new book, Heathe! 😊❤️😊❤️

  9. Audrey Stewart

I am so excited about this new series! I can’t wait to start reading this!
